The American Nameday Calendar is unique in a sense that, although first and foremost we celebrate our own first names, namedays in the calendar have become, in a way, instant reminders of many prominent Americans and eminent Christians on whom most of our namedays are based. (Originally all namedays in European calendars were based, and most of them still do, only on the feast days of the saints) The "Main version of the 2008 calendar includes the names and dates of those "Notables", along with some memorable moments and events in the history of our nation. And this version also includes Holidays and Moon phases. Click on thumbnails January to December, further down this page, for larger view. However, if you prefer not to have names and dates of these notables shown in the calendar, and like to view and download pages of the "conventional" version of the calendar instead, you can do so from the left side column. For comparison, January 30th, in both versions for example, are shown below.
Calendar pages (in pdf We like Abobe Reader because it allows anyone to view and print "PDF" files, such as the pages of our nameday calendars, accurately, exactly as they were originally created. When viewing, enlarge the page to the size you feel most comfortable with, and, in fact, you can enlarge these pages to almost any size. (Please note that the file sizes vary from 290KB to 435KB, so it may take a few moments for each page to open.)
